CHURCH ACTIVITIES
The Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Program began in 1960 as a project of the Knights of Columbus Columbian Squires of North America to honor the Blessed Virgin under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. The program has continued since then as a project in several Knights of Columbus jurisdictions. Each year, a Silver Rose "honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe and reaffirming our commitment to the sanctity of human life" is carried by Knights from Canada, through the United States, and into Mexico to arrive at the Basilica in Monterrey, Mexico on December 12, Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Silver Rose visited the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, Louisiana on Saturday, October 5, 2013. We look forward to sharing in the community of the Silver Rose program again in 2014.

Founded by a parish priest, the Knights of Columbus have always worked hard to encourage young men and women to consider God’s call to service in the priesthood or religious life.
Under the motto “Keep the Faith Alive,” the Order’s vocations initiative has a number of programs based on prayer and designed to reach the hearts and minds of young people, as well as to provide financial support during their years of seminary training or religious formation.

The majority of Brother Knights in Council #1286 also assume roles in the parish: Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Lecturers, and Ushers.
