COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
40 CANS for LENT is a program designed to feed God's hungry people. The program begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Easter Sunday. A family is asked to donate 1 non-perishable item for each of the 40 days of Lent and conclude the program donating 1 non-perishable item per family member on Easter.
The Lafayette Council #1286 has collected nearly 20,000 items since the program began in 2012.

In November 2013, the council joined the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in providing 45 Thanksgiving Bags for the needy of the parish. This food drive also resulted in nearly a ton of food being donated to local food banks in Lafayette, LA.
In December 2013, the council created 27 Christmas Food Boxes for needy families throughout the community. The council also held a toy drive and provided gifts for 10 families involved with Catholic Services in the Diocese of Lafayette.
